Water Storage Towers Complete the System

The next step in building Afiri’s water management system is the construction of two water storage towers. Reinforced concrete posts will support these two-story platforms, each with two tanks. Capacity is 1,200 gallons per tower, or 2,400 gallons for the total system. That stored water, along with the two electrical pumps, will help maintain a continuous supply of fresh water for all who live in the village.

Workers install the tower’s framework. Later, they’ll build wooden frames and pour concrete to create a permanent structure.

The support pillars will take three weeks to dry.

Two tanks will stack one on top of the other in each tower.

Their joy is unmistakable as the people of Afiri take a first drink from their new wells.
